This Pinarello Lab creation is a natural evolution of the Pinarello Bolide; standing as the benchmark of time trial bikes. The development of the Bolide TT focuses upon a drastic reduction in weight, whilst ensuring stiffness and aerodynamic performance remains the same. The final result sees a 350g weight reduction of the frame kit compared with the Bolide, and an overall improvement in aerodynamic performance.
How was this feasible?
Pinarello Lab conducted a careful analysis of all features used on the Bolide TT frame, optimising the design and using the finest materials to match the production process. The fork structure was revised; the seat post clamp is now similar to those used in road models; the bottom bracket is now Italian threaded; the rear dropouts are made using alloy and the internal arrangement of the components for the electronic groupsets has been reviewed in order to optimise frame construction. Improving the carbon layup with Torayca T1100 fibre results in absolute stiffness and a reduction in weight, whilst the new fork dropouts have been designed with an airfoil section, directly derived from the Bolide HR.
